Being a long time Sony fan and an ex employee, I am very fortunate to have both the wf-1000xm3 & wf-1000xm4 in my possession. And I just want to share my favourite EQ settings for EDM/Hiphop based on the differences of their tonality and tuning.

I’m quite used to bassy headphones and earbuds before and that is reflected in my tuning below.

wf1000xm3

400: +2, 1k: +1, 2.5k: +5, 6.3k: +2, 15.6k: +2, ClearBass: +5

wf1000xm4

400: +2, 1k: +1, 2.5k: +5, 6.3k: +3, 15.6k: +4, ClearBass: +5

The out of the box sound from the xm4 is a little darker than the xm3 so I’m giving some extra boost in the treble department but overall these are quite similar. The vocals can be a little bit overshadowed on both of the buds so I’m bringing it up. I love the energy this EQ settings has and the bass is thumping without being too boomy. For other genres of music I’d go with less bass for sure though. I was fiddling around with the sliders while listening to Tom Enzy and LissA’s “Teach Me How to Love” and holy obi wan kenobi, the sub bass is bouncy with this one.

I’d say Sony nailed it again in terms of ANC, sound quality(sound stage, clarity, instrument separation are all top notch) and battery life with these earbuds. Have fun listening!

PS: Amazon is doing discounts on both earphones treat yourself some ANC magic with these affiliate links:
